My name is Rana Zandi. I am an Iranian-Canadian concept designer, tech enthusiast, and wannabe writer! I come from a graphic design background, and I hold a Master of Arts degree from the Digital Futures program at one of the top art and design institutions in Canada, the OCAD University.

What does a concept designer do? My job as a concept designer is to understand people's need and translate business goals to appropriate presentation of products, and services. From ideation, user testing & prototyping to implementation, I design brand experiences that turns people into followers.

I enjoy innovative explorations of Human-Computer Interaction, and I thrive on strategic human-centered designs. My research interest is on context-based chatbots, artificial companions, digital immortality & longevity.

My undergraduate thesis work explored mortality in the context of social media, and it helped me develop a solid foundation in using critical thinking and research methodologies.


In the following year, my research was reviewed by the Digital Futures Master program director, at the time Dr. Martha Ladly, and I was asked to continue my research in their graduate program.
